No, the key cannot be pre-programmed before shipping. Programming has to happen on-site at your vehicle because the new key must be electronically paired to your car's immobilizer system — this requires the programmer to be physically connected to your vehicle.
For the Mitsubishi Lancer, two steps are required to get the key working:
- Cutting — the key blade must be cut to match your ignition.
- Programming — a scan tool must be connected to your vehicle to pair the new key with the immobilizer.
