The 2019–2024 Ram 1500 proximity smart key (FCC ID OHT-4882056) uses a single CR2450 3V lithium coin battery. This detail matters: it is a CR2450, not the thinner CR2032 used in many older Dodge and Ram remotes, including the Ram 1500 Classic, so be sure to buy the correct size.
To replace it:
- Release the latch and slide out the emergency (mechanical) key blade.
- With the blade removed, use a small flat tool to gently open the fob at the seam and separate the cover. Work slowly so you don't damage the housing or the internal seal.
- The CR2450 battery is now visible. Note its orientation — the housing is marked for the correct side up.
- Install the new CR2450 the same way, matching the marked orientation. Handle it by the edges, since oils from your fingers can shorten battery life.
- Reattach the cover until it snaps closed, then reinsert the emergency key.
Replacing the battery does not erase the key's programming, so no reprogramming is needed and the fob will work with your truck right away. If the key still isn't recognized after a fresh battery, the problem likely lies elsewhere, and the remote should be checked by a professional automotive locksmith or dealer.
