Abrites AVDI Plus Vehicle Diagnostic Interface
The Abrites Vehicle Diagnostic Interface (AVDI Plus) is the newest generation of diagnostic interface built by Abrites Ltd, covering cars, bikes, trucks, buses, water scooters, ATVs and heavy-duty machinery. It is the foundation the entire Abrites product ecosystem is built on, and it is exceptionally versatile — support reaches roughly 99% of the automotive brands on the road.
What's new in the Plus: added CAN-FD and Ethernet (ENET) connectivity for vehicles built from 2018 onward, a tougher and better-thought-out housing, faster operation, and the ability to run several communication channels at the same time — CAN, K-Line, CAN-FD and Ethernet.
The AVDI handles standard and advanced diagnostics plus hundreds of complex jobs: key programming, ECU programming, module replacement and instrument cluster calibration.
Standard diagnostic capabilities
- Full vehicle scan
- Module identification — every module in the car, with VIN and part numbers where available
- Reading and clearing diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs)
- Live sensor data in real time
- Actuator tests to pinpoint faults
- Coding operations
Advanced procedures included in the basic software (brand dependent)
- Adaptation of new modules
- Reset of second-hand modules
- Key programming
- Instrument cluster and mileage recalibration
- Airbag renewal
- Module software version changes where applicable
Advanced diagnostics: calibrations, configuration settings, coding options, diagnostic channel adaptations, guided functions and hundreds more depending on the brand.
J2534 PassThru driver — included in every AVDI. The SAE-compliant PassThru driver lets you run original manufacturer (OEM) software straight through the AVDI, emulating different interface units so third-party diagnostic packages will talk to it. No second tool to buy, and less time and cost on the job. Tested OEM applications include BMW ISTA-P, E-Sys, INPA, EDIABAS and NCS Expert, Mercedes DAS/Xentry, VAG ODIS, Toyota/Lexus Techstream, Honda HDS, Hyundai/KIA GDS, GM Tech2Win, GDS2 and SPS, JLR SDD and IDS, Nissan Consult III+, Subaru Select Monitor III, Ford Scanner, Fiat EXAMINER, Volvo VIDA, Mitsubishi MUT3, Bombardier, Evinrude, Suzuki/Yamaha Marine and Webasto TT.
Brand coverage for standard and advanced diagnostics spans VAG (Volkswagen, Audi, Seat, Škoda, Porsche, Bentley, Lamborghini), Mercedes-Benz (cars, trucks and buses), Smart and Maybach, BMW, Mini and Rolls-Royce, Toyota, Lexus and Scion, Peugeot and Citroën, Renault and Dacia, Ford and Mazda, Hyundai and KIA, Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge, FCA (Fiat, Alfa Romeo, Lancia), Jaguar and Land Rover, Nissan and Infiniti, Opel and Vauxhall, Volvo, Subaru, Suzuki, Mitsubishi, Daihatsu, DAF and Tesla — plus bikes, snowmobiles, water scooters and heavy-duty vehicles. Heavy-duty, agricultural, recreational and marine vehicles are covered under J1939.
With Abrites software licences the same interface works across more than 40 vehicle brands for key programming (all keys lost and spare keys), odometer calibration for cluster replacement and retrofit, renewal of second-hand modules for reuse, adaptation of new and used modules, and ECU reading and programming.
Vehicle types: cars, vans, trucks, buses, bikes, recreational (ATVs, snowmobiles), marine (water scooters, boats), heavy-duty, agricultural and industrial — J1939 compliant.
Certification: TÜV Rheinland and GS certified; compliant with EU directives 2004/108/EC, 2006/95/EC, 2011/65/EU and 2012/19/EU, and safety norms EN61010-1:2010 and EN61326-1:2013.
Start here. Nothing else in the Abrites range works without it, and the CAN-FD and Ethernet channels are what make post-2018 vehicles reachable at all. Abrites lists the hardware most often needed alongside it as the ZN103 PROTAG for key work, the ZN130 ABPROG, the ZN085 RH850/V850 Programmer and the ZN151 Distribution Box for bench work. The CB106 OBDII cable is the lead that connects the AVDI to the vehicle and is worth stocking as a spare.
